How to make companies to advertise on your website or blog

I want companies to place their ads on my website for a fee, how do I do this?

This is a question asked by almost everybody who owns a blog or a website, yet the answer for it is very simple. There are two ways we walk when want advertisers to publish their adverts on Devoracles, both are extremely easy ways and all you have to have is common sense, an email client and a web browser.

Let’s live with an example: I want Adobe to advertise on Devoracles. I have two options: I either go to an affiliate market like Connect Commerce or Commission Junction and try to find their affiliate program there. When I found it, I apply to their program and I will be faced with dozens of adverts I can put on Devoracles. These ads will usually only pay if someone purchases something in Adobe’s e-shop after clicked the ad within a given timeframe, usually 30 to 90 days.
If you think that this option is not good, think about this: an Adobe software is expensive and the commission you get after a sale is quite high, say 10%. If a product is USD $500, you get $50 for each sale. Not bad since you worked nothing for it.

The other method is to simply contact a firm via e-mail and ask them nicely whether they’d like to advertise on your blog or website. The message should be written in a polite but friendly manner since you’re not a lawyer. Never forget to clearly state what you need and to include pricing, the type and size of the ads you accept and basically any information you think is important in the matter. If you need an example, here it is. Don’t forget that this is just a basic example to give you an idea what I am talking about:

My name is JOHN DOE and I own a relatively small website/blog, situated under the HTTP://EXAMPLE.COM domain. My niche is SOMETHING and since you’re XYZ product is directly related to this niche, I would like to ask you to advertise on my website/blog and by that supporting its existence.

I get X unique hits per day and my readers view Y pages in average. The existent ads on the website have an average Z click-through-rate. This information can be verified at http://www.quantcast.com/devoracles.com or http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/devoracles.com.
I accept ads of any size or type, but preferably 125×125 pixels image ads.
I would like to receive 5 US Dollars per thousand of impressions or .15 US Dollar per click.
