HP ProBook 4510s – business class redefined

by Gary Illyes

Whether you’re a tech enthusiast or a businessman, you will definitely adore HP’s new ProBook S series notebooks. Even though they are the little brothers of the well known EliteBook, their price-quality ratio beats most of the HP notebooks’.

New high-end notebook has been announced by HP and in the same time they also created a new class: budget-business. Sounds odd? It’s not, if you know the notebook’s specification and its price.

The new HP ProBook 4510s has a base price of $799.00 (USD, subject to change) which is definitely lower than the notebooks’ from the business class. If you expect low-end hardware for this price, you are wrong.

The HP ProBook 4510s has 3 GB of DDR2 RAM, upgradeable up to 8 Gigs (!). The processor is also impressive compared to the price. An Intel Core 2 Duo T6570 working at full load at 2.10 GHz, with 2 MB second level cache and a front side bus ticking at 800 MHz offers high processing power for almost any software.
The video card is not that good as it’s an Intel mobile-optimized card. The Intel GMA 4500 is good for office jobs and even for watching HD quality movies, but when comes to gaming it’s lost. Nothing wrong with that though as the notebook is a business class PC.

From the outside the notebook is pleasing for the eye. Slightly rounded corners with matte, black plastic and a beautiful, 15.6-inch LED-backlit HD BrightView display, capable of a generous 1366 x 768 resolution.

And finally, some general thoughts about the HP ProBook 4510s. For gamers, this notebook is not an option, that’s sure, but businessmen will adore it. First, there is the price which is uncommon for a business-class notebook. Then the hardware HP put inside the case to please any type of businessman, the batteries capability of keeping the notebook online up to 5 hours offers high value for this mobile PC. And let’s just not forget that HP also installs a couple of ingenious software to help the notebook’s user to, for example access the address book before entering the operating system.

If you’re low on money but you still need quality, the HP ProBook 4510s must be considered definitely.
